More studies are also focusing on vitamin D’s role in wellness, particularly in preventing respiratory infections. A clear link noted during a 19,000-participant trial wasn’t replicated during a recent study in New Zealand, though differences in sunshine may have a lot to do with it. Australians don’t tend to have deficiencies that are as severe as they are in many other parts of the world. Unfortunately, that can come with its own problems, including skin cancer.

Australians need to learn how to balance their risks of sun cancer with the need for vitamin D. It’s essential to use sunscreen and block harmful UV rays, but this has a tendency to also block out the benefits of being in the sun. Supplements can be found in many stores, from Chemmart to your local petrol station, and don’t require a prescription.

For now, it’s clear that Australians prefer treating themselves over running to the doctor whenever they’re ill, so it’s great news that such effective methods for doing so are available. Two of the most common, accessible and affordable have been shown to have positive impacts, so literally everyone can have heightened illness protection all year long.

Great Tips. I do not want to be that person that runs to the dr at the first sign of the sniffles. I have heard before that the right vitamins can definitely help your immune system. I am going to be getting my whole family vitamins to help prevent those winter colds.
