2016 Spring Bedroom Themes

2

Spring has sprung bringing a sense of hope after a long, cold winter. Many of us want to embrace this and breathe a new lease of life into our homes. We are probably thinking about all the jobs around our home that need to be done during this very popular DIY period. However big the change you are willing to make, a great place to start with is the room that you spend the most time in. Often our bedrooms can be overlooked during a home makeover, but that shouldn’t be the case. Make 2016 the year when you finally spend time getting this all-important room right.

Freshen up your bed – Both the mattress industry and the Sleep Council strongly recommend that you should replace your mattress every eight years because by this time it will have lost much of its original comfort and support. Over time your mattress and bedding can harbour allergens, dead skin cells, dust mites, germs and even bedbugs. You could revive your whole bedroom by investing in a new bed or divan. We found a great range of affordable choices at the Divan Beds Centre. Your bed is the centrepiece of the room – spend time getting this just right.

A change of colour – Colours have often been used to change the mood or feel of any space. If you are trying to ignite passion then use reds and deep pinks or if you are making your space a relaxing haven then stick to lilac or pastel colours. When thinking about spring we often associate this with colours such as yellow and white for daffodils, light blue for bluebells and orange and red tulips. Use the colours themes to add a touch of the season or bring the outside in by creating some beautiful flower arrangements made from your very own garden.

Bed linen – Bed linen can be a cost effective way to give you the feel of spring. Not only can you brighten the room up with light fresh coloured linen but you can select patterns or designs with a spring feel. For example, choosing patterns that include grasses or flowers can add interest to your room.

Look up – During spring time we are often blessed with vast blue skies so why not create a ceiling artwork that incorporates this look. You don’t have to have white ceilings so paint it a light sky blue shade. You can even add a cloud effect by using white paint and dab it on carefully using a sponge. All you need to do next is lie back and use your imagination.

Spring clean – If you don’t fancy taking on a huge DIY project in your bedroom it is always good to give your personal space a spring clean. Clean the inside and outside of every cupboard and shelf. Add a few pieces of cedar wood or lavender bags to keep the moths away. At the same time empty out all your wardrobes and cupboards to see what you actually have in there. If you are anything like me you will find clothes that don’t fit any longer or clothes that still have the label on them having not been worn. A tidier room will instantly have a new look and feel too it.
